Our synthetic lubricants for space applications have some common requirements. Vacuum stability, the ability to operate in extreme temperatures, low outgassing and low particle generation and the typical demands; but corrosion, friction and wear protection are crucial to ensure the long life of components operating in space.
We see often applied to discrete components that are lubricated for life and mechanical or electromechanical devices that must operate for extended periods in severe environments. Our synthetic oils and greases are specified for space components where long life is critical for the success of the mission, such as extreme temperature bearings in navigational instruments, precision bearings in space suits, linear actuators for satellite antennas and bearing in satellite reaction wheels.
